Ban on adult content on TV

Central government banned the telecast of all films, film songs, music videos or their promos which have not been given a ‘U’ certificate for unrestricted public exhibition by the central board of film certification (CBFC). Do you think that the Ban is justified?

Bilkul sahi hai,Kyoki TV mein aanevaale jyaadatar programs yese hote hai ki hum family members ke saath baithakar nahi dekh sakte hai. so ye bilkul sahi nirnay hai.

This ban is actually blasphemous.. ab toh FTV aur Trendz ki waat lagegi.. aur hamari bhi.. I dont know if we will get to see any new releases, as majority of them nowadays get A certificate. Its been speculated that this has been done under pressure from the film industry which has seen major losses and closure of cinema halls owing to the enormous TV penetration.

No, not justified.. those could be banned only during daytime and prime time.. adult certified programmes should be allowed at other times with an 'A' warning displayed on the screen..

Yes I support the ban, but what about the crap shown on channels like MTV etc ? I feel that any one who wants to see such movies can get the DVD's and see it at home. The cable TV channel is found to be having porn which the kids manage to see. So at an age when they should be learning better things they are exposed to such stuff. but what about the crap shown on channels like MTV etc ? those music video's are the most vulguar things passed off in the name of music.

The simple principle ......"Individuals Right to Choose"..... Mark content as Adult .... slot it into a time ...... and let the public decide if they want to watch......By scheduling the time slot the government does its part of the deal.... it informs the public that programmes aired are not family oriented..... the goverment should stop there .... it has no right to decide individual tastes

the ban is the most ridiculous thing i have ever heard... if you really wanna ban something... then get rid of those saas bahu serials.

There is increase in rapes and other sex related crimes and Aids as there is very minimal or nil sex education in India .. Human mentality is like a spoilt kid .. when one aske not to see something ppl get curious .. so indirectly Govt. is promoting the A certified films. If not direct black marketers of these films increase. There by increasing black money and non tax payers. This is a loss for Govt. As DM mentioned. They should be banned on the primetime. But such films shd be allowed. That increases a particular hour viewership and which is revenu to the channels and there by to govt. in form of Tax

I support the ban ...agree with DM that during adult waking hours and children sleeping hours .it is alright to show films of adult content with adequate warnings Like Busy Bee says , MTV is worse for children ,do something about that first

The ban is justified but something more is required. As voiced by other bloggers, something is needed to be done for M videos, that is utter trash in the name of music. similarly degraded story lines of the soaps ... who will check them ? most ridiculous thing on TV are these soaps, spearheaded by K's. Perhaps a Con-Ax with late timeslot may solve the problem for A certified content. Yet that shd not mean liberty to screen anything and everything.

About banning channels/programs on TV, I would say Ekta Kapoor's serials are doing MORE HARM to the indian societal fabric than FTV and other such stuff can ever do!!! :P She has gone one step ahead of 'Desperate Housewives' OR 'Sex and the City'!!! And all in the name of bharitiya sanskriti... Bull Shit!
