Ragging and Law

Tougher laws are alright but that alone will not be enough to eliminate ragging from campuses. Are you agree?

Busybee says: These laws should be more than enough imo. The colleges can appoint a person to keep an eye on the students and also counsel the students if need be. They should move around the college and the campus, hostels etc instead of sitting around in some office.

India-Pakistan joint statement

The inclusion of Balochistan in the India-Pakistan joint statement at Sharm el-Sheikh is probably troubling security and diplomatic circles in India the most. Are you agree ?

Niceguy251 says: This will give Pakistan a point to draw attention away from Kashmir terrorism sponsored by them.

Kashmir and Army

Will Kashmir be safer, happier without Army?

Niceguy251 says: This is one mistake committed at the time of accession of J & K which we will continue to pay for times to come. Did we give special status to any other state? However it is not at all advisible to deploy Armed Forces for internal matters for too long. We need to look hard at options to relieve them now and have a dependable alternative with force constitued with more locals. Also let local politicians of repute handle the situation.

India and Gay Couples

Will India accept gay couples?

Niceguy251 says: We need to move with times. However no PDA just as we do not accept for hetrosexual couples too.

Busybee says: Why not ? People dont become gay by choice, they are born.. so why hold it against them for an accident of birth ?

Sibal and Board Exam

The Union Human Resource Ministry is considering to scrap the board examination for class 10 students.Should Class 10 Board Exams be scrapped ?

Busybee says: It is an excellent idea and should be implemented, though the stress for students shouldnt be the reason. IF we could live with that stress, then so can the coming generations. Its this which makes them fighters.. I would say that the single board exam should be CBSE standards for all the schools through out the country.

Dhoni and T20 World Cup

Is Dhoni responsible for India's exit from T20 world cup?

Busybee says: A teams win/loss is always a team effort.. and its only a game. We win some, we lose some. Whats the big deal?

Niceguy251 says: Each and every player is responsible. It has to be team spirit. Those who hid their unfitness which lead to underperformance is against team spirit and is individualistic desire. Dhoni has proved to be a good leader with healthy interaction with each player.

Racist attacks and Government

Whether Indian govt. is doing enough about the racist attacks on our youth in Australia?

Busybee says: other than declare war, only the power to impose economic sanctions on these countries could make them behave. Nothing else including the best of our diplomatic efforts would work. So no Q of doing more or enuf, imo. All would be a waste.

Niceguy251 says: We can not go on war, can we? We have to put diplomatic pressure and I think the government is trying to do so. We may take it up at some international forums.

Election 2009 and Indian Voter

Do you think that the Indian voter is a much mature lot now ?

Niceguy251 says: I think Indian voters, particularly the youth, have applied their mind better than previous elections. This is evident by outright rejection of some of the so called heavy weights who's entics were seen through. Also rejection of those with criminal background is a positive indication.

Early Retirement and Happy Life

Early retirement is generally good for people's health and wellbeing unless it has been forced on them. Those forced into early retirement generally have poorer mental health than those who take routine retirement, who in turn have poorer mental health than those who have taken voluntary early retirement," the study for the Economic and Social Research Council(Britain) said. Are you agree with these findings?

Busybee says: Retirement should always be voluntary.. whether at 50 or at 80.. If ppl think they are old enuf to retire at 60, then they most certainly are. If at 80 some one thinks he is young, then he most certaily is.. like LKA :D

Niceguy251 says: I think the study does make sense as those who avail retirement earlier do live with less stress. One knows that there is some amount of stress when you are following a fixed routine of office.

Black money in Swiss bank

The BJP, the Congress and the Left, all the three have demanded recovery of Indian black money from the foreign banks.Do you think that the next government will take some initiative in this direction?

Niceguy251 says: If you think so, you are living in Fools Paradise. Who would axe the brach one is sitting on?

Wise donkee says: no. it will be their money too:)

Voting Compulsory

Supreme Court rejects plea to make voting compulsory.
Do you think that voting should be made compulsory?

Niceguy251 says: Making it compulsory goes against the principles of DEMOCRACY. We should raise awareness by contact programs, fairs, debates in educational institutions and media ( print, audio and visual ).

Virtualscorpio says: making voting compulsary or not is really not an issue. the same lot of corrupt leaders, ablot really wud be elected any which way. what needs 2 b made compulsary is the basic qualifications of th e representatives, the candidates, not academic qualifications, but honesty, integrity, patrotism, clean public image etc. else , v r only fooling ourselves.

Women are better stress managers

A new study has found that women cope better under strain than men.
Do you think so?

Lostpatrol says: Yes, I do. I am married and so, I should know It is their bayen haath ka khel hei, to give strain to men..:D

Niceguy251 says: I think there is some truth in it. Men do lose temper when under strain but women just clam up.

Vamsi says: well, in most of the cases, its the women who are the reason for the stress that men face ... so, obviously women would be better in managing the "situations" that they create ! the study is quite correct in its findings !

Busybee says: well.. men can be trusted to never understand what the problem is, as is evident from the replies here. The Q is abt stress management, and one talks abt what causes him stress, one thinks women clam up and another is talking abt situations he has never faced himself.. :D:D..

Pessimist Mums and Kids

Women with negative thoughts and feelings are more likely to give their kids unhealthy food, according to a Norwegian study.Do you think so ?

Niceguy251 says: It could be possible as negative thoughts and feelings may turn mind away from rationality.

Busybee says: hmm... its an interesting question. May be true as reasoned by NG.
Unhealthy foods may also b given because the mother doesnt know any better... all other factors remaining same like availability, and money.

Ruggedboy says: that is not true Coz believe me My mom has never ever made me go either mal nutritioned or served me food that was unhealthy ala junk or oily or fatty yes they love u so they love feeding you with your favorite but their is no way they do it on purpuse so why the discussion and specially when you know it then why ?

Live TV debate

Should PM Manmohan Singh agree to a TV debate with Advani?

Niceguy251 says: Yes, why not? It will set a healthy precedent.

M Kumar says: But his health is failing; that's the excuse he has given for it(read: he does not want to debate to fail!). Moreover, Con-gress party does not debate democratically, it's run geneologically. PRAJAYA HO CON-gress!

Ruggedboy says: now i am a congress supporter so for me a debate on TV, newspaper, bathroom by advani means nothing i think let people decide on their own who they should elect and not advani sahebs tv debates do it

Friendships after Marriage

Do friendships change after marriage?

Niceguy251 says: Before marriage one has all the time for friends but after marriage one needs to keep time for partner on priority. Then there is question of friends of both getting along with the other. At times it may be that there are differences so in the final count , yes some friendships do change after marriage.

Gandhi Items

We procured Gandhi items through Mallya: Govt
Is this a victory of Government ?

LP says: Success has many fathers. Why these ended outside India? That failure has no takers. Let the case rest now.

Niceguy251 says: Mr Mallaya has contradicted this statement.

Ruggedboyz says: frankly speaking they ddnt belong to india which it should have orignially and in this economic slow down time do we really care about people and life or belongings of gandhiji really is out of me

Slumdog and Indian cinema

'Slumdog' shines with 8 Oscars: 2 for Rahman, one for Pookutty . Do you think that it has created history in the field of Indian cinema?

Niceguy251 says: Yes. 3 Oscars for Indians is a good news, specially in music circle and technical. Movie may be British produced but theme was Indian with lot of focus on India. Same for Pinki too.
LP says: Any FIRST event is named 'creating history'. In that sense, the coveted awards to Indians in any cinema is historic. However, while we rejoice in the recognition from the Academy, and welcome the positive fall-outs, both on our national self-image as well as the foreign attention, let us not be overtly euphoric. Indian Talent is on the ascendancy in almost every field. This visibility is partly due to our decisions since 1991 to integrate our economy and trade with the global markets. In the era of interdependence and global trade, the developed world-read US in particular, recognizes the income shift that is taking place to regions like Chindia. Didn't a Chinese girl win last year's beauty pageant? Didn't Indian girls win a series of them since 1994? Our girls didn't become prettier overnight since 1994...

Fundamentalism and Gender Equality

All Religions are not the same; but all fundamentalists are. They share an aversion for modernity and a hatred of gender equality. Are you agree with this?

Niceguy251 says: There is no doubt about it as these people feel insecure about modernisation as well as gender equality.
Busybee says: Agree fully.
Frthinking says: It DEPENDS UPON WHO IS CALLING AND TO WHOM IS HE/SHE CALLING.DETERMINED AND STUBBORN ARE ONLY TWO VIEW OF SAME COIN.IF WE DO NOT AGREE WITH SOMEONE WE MAY CALL HIM/HER FUNDAMENTAL BUT ARE WE NOT THE SAME BY STICKING TO OUR OWN VIEW .EVERY HUMAN BEING SHOULD BE FREE TO LIVE AS PER HIS/HER OWN VIEW AS LONG AS HE DOES NOT IMPOSES IT ON ANOTHER BY FORCE.MODERNITY IS ALSO NOT FREE FROM IMPOSING ITS VIEWS ON ANOTHERS.THEY ARE NOT GRANTING EQUAL RIGHTS TO EVERY HUMAN BEING.THEY CREATE SEVERAL LAWS WHICH ARE DISCRIMINATORY TO MALES.THEY CREATE UNJUST LAWS IN THE NAME OF SOCIAL JUSTICE .THEY DO NOT ALLOW AN INDVIDUAL HUMAN BEING HIS/HER DUE
LP says: yes

Valentine Day and Traditional Indian Festivals

Do you think that Valentine's day is now even more popular than traditional Indian festivals?

Niceguy251 says: It is equally popular as any Indian festival amongst teen or young crowd generally students in mostly urban areas.
Gul says: nah ji etta popular to nahi kah sakte...but videsh ki nakal hai....Hardin to pyaar ke liye Shubh hota hai.
Nischitrupen isse to trdditional indian festival nahi kah sakte.
Frthinking says:Valentine day is popular only among the young genration and mostly in urban population.Indian festival are more popular than

IPL Auction and Recession

The mind-boggling figures at the IPL auction made the word recession almost redundant. Are you agree with this ?

LP says: Recession is only for donkeys..race horses are always in demand
Busybee says: The figures arent mind boggling for the likes of Mallya, Raj Kundra and SRK. remains to b seen, as to how many show up to c d matches this year, and the kind of revenues the channels get from ads
Niceguy251 says: There is slow down but those who have it just have it. And they could not care less how they squander it.

Pub Culture and Young Generation

Do you think that the pub culture is destroying our young generation ?

Lp53 says: No, it is spreads wealth from the rich to the poor॥

B K chowla says: No, it is time we allowed the young generation to make their own decisions. If he/she is fit at 18 to vote and choose their represntative,we should trust them at the pub also
Niceguy251 says: There will be changes in society and we have to learn to gear upto that. Basically onus of young generation being aware of what is right and wrong is squarly on parents, elders of family and teachers, not by fear of punishment but right advice intimating pros & cons of everything. And youngsters can go astray in strickest of societies too.
Frthinking says: YES SURELY PUBCULTURE DO DEESTROY YOUNG GENRATION .EFFCCT OF ALCHOL ON HEALTH ARE SURELY DESTRUTIVE.DRIVING AFTER DRINKING ALSO CAUSES A LARGE NUMBER OF ACCIDENTS.THOUGH THERE CAN NOT BE TOTAL PROHIBITION YET PRODUTION AND SALE OF ALHOCOL SHOULD BE KEPT REGULATED.HOWEVER EVERY ADULT HUMAN BEING HAS THE FREEDOM TO DECIDE HIS OR HER COICE IN DRINKING HABITS. GOVT. SHOULD PUBLISH RELEVENT FACTS REGULARLY.ALSO EXICSE DUTY ON ALCHOL SHOULD BE TRANSFERED TO CENTRE.STATES PROMOTE ALCHOL FOR TAX WHICH IS WRONG

Oscar awards and Amitabh Bachchan

Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan on Friday said Oscar awards should not be considered as the "ultimate recognition" for artists. Do you agree with him?

B K chowla says: Yes , I agree with AB।Indian film industry is too big to worry about oscar. We seem to be bitten by the foreign bug.

Niceguy251 says: There are so many awards in India now that I have lost count. In olden days it was Filmfare award and it really was something to look forward to. Oscars have worldwide fame and acceptance. So it does matter for anyone to win an Oscar. Slumdog Millionaire is basically not an Indian movie but produced based on India. If AR Rehman wins, we can say that an Indian has won Oscar.
Lp53 says: I agree with him, until he will win an Oscar and changes his tune..:P

Next PM of INDIA

Who you wish to be next PM of India? Dr। Manmohan Singh, L। K. Advani or others?
B K chowla says:Iwould wish to have a PM who can take the country with him.Dr Singh is ,no doubt, a clean man but he does'nt give the impression that he is "Independent".LK Advani is too old to lead the country.I would like to see a person like Narendera Modi taking on higher responsibility. He may have slight dictatorial tendencies, but then each one has some weak points.
Niceguy251 says: I think it is time to let the young generation come into fore. Let us hope for the best.
LP says: Neither.. We, the citizens should demand that all partis, especially, Congress and BJP should hold intra-party elections supervised by CECs, by secret one member one vote basis. Then the party convention shouldendorse the secret ballot.
Gul says: Hmmmm...Narendra Modi G.
Frthinking says:out of these two manmohan singh is better but only if he is because own power not dependent upon other
Virtualscorpio says: if u r giving me only this choice, its LK Advani, else Narendra Modi

Satyam and Moral Hazard

Do you think the scam will seriously affect India's image abroad? Do you think if Government rescue Satyam the moral hazard of frauding a company will exist?

LP says: No, no, no॥ After Enron, World।com and recent wall street busts, Corporate America lives..so would our image after this and other scams of the past

B K chowla says: I don't think so.There are crooks everywhere in the world.PwC as auditors may have something to explain.Govt here has acted fast enough, that will go in our favour.India will go on.
Busybee says: Scams are a sign of a thriving economy... so dont you worry.
Niceguy251 says: For a while it will have some affect but not in the long run.

Mumbai attack and US

US wants 26/11 suspects tried in Pak .Should we depend on other nations on this issue?

LP says:No, we should not depend on other nations. However, we should forge an alliance of willing nations. This 'international community' is our back-up when we fight the terror, with every options and means at our disposal including all-out war against nations that harbour them. B K chowla says: Neither us,nor any other country shpuld depend on any other country.Ultimately,It is battle..or is it war...that we have to fight on our own. Each one,be it US,UK,RUSSIA,CHINA or anyone else, each has different problems and priorities. An example being, US wants us to sit and sort out our problems with Pak.But, goes all out to allow Israel to bomb Gaza.It is not double standards,it is need based understanding.Everybody for himself and God for everybody.
Niceguy251 says: Do we have any choice except direct action to bring those persons here like Entebe kind of action by the Israelies?
