Controversial issues in Textbook

NCERT is planning to include controversial issues like Ayodhya and 1984 Sikh carnage in its political science textbook on politics in India. Do you think that this is a right decision?

No, not at school level. History has been recorded and if anyone wants to know and do a research on such issues, school level is not the right level. It will pollute the raw minds.

This should not be included in 'history' and that too at school level. How can events that at just 23 yr old be called history ? & what good is to be achieved by teaching children about such events ? In some time when the BJP comes to power, they would re-wirite the history books.

If school education gets politicised, then God help India's future.. this attempt is a cause for concern and should be withdrawn/stopped..

It is ok to include any part of history even 5 years old if it adds any value in the kid understanding the goodness of her motherland. Even if it's a political issue it's ok to include as long as no bias comes in. And thanks to news and TV explosion the so called kids get to know it anyway. But political bias is bound to come in and Party A will accuse party B and vice versa. Which is not exactly education is it?? So its better if its not there at all, rather than be there and be wrong.

I think there is no harm in putting these controversial issues in History Books at school level...as these issues are equally significant to independent India as "Leave India"motion during struggle for the independence...however this has to be noted that it should be un-biased...stating the facts...making aware for the ground realities...and what implications were there after that It would be highly unfair if the generations not come to know about these Controversial issues...but it can be dangerous if this is not presented in the right picture-manner.... After-all History is to be recorded for all important events...which left any mark on the future
