IPL and Traditional Cricket

Do you think that the IPL(Indian Premier League), the brainchild of BCCI will get more popularity and will affect the traditional cricket?

Lionking says: this IPL is surely going to be very popular and will give another dimension to the game of cricket. the way cricket is being played, run, managed, viewed, will change dramatically ... players, support staff, sponsors, BCCI, ICC, other boards, viewers, other "stake holders" will be very much into this IPL ... and as IPL starts ... BCCI will become more rich and more careless in dealing with petty issues !

Lostpatrol53 says: Free lunches will end. One shall pay and watch and watch as much as one pays...

Ruggedboyz says: the fact that preita, shahrukh, ambhanis and maliyas money is gone into it i did like to believe it is gone into the horses mouth and not in the dumb i think its gonna be popular for it looks promising but i dont really think it can outsmart international cricket for that is the ultimate form of cricket

Virtualscorpio says: shud be popular 2 start wid, But overdose may kill it. I think they r trying to duplicate the EPL formula, & I doubt it can generate the same passion 4 it 2 succeed.

Niceguy251 says: Yes, change is the way of life. We all look for a change from routine which becomes dull after sometime. Test matches were very popular till one dayers came into being which got pushed into background by 20 - 20. So that is it.

Supreme Court and Patient prior consent

In a landmark ruling that would chasten private hospitals and nursing homes that are often accused of inflating bills, the Supreme Court on Wednesday ruled that doctors cannot perform additional procedures during a scheduled operation without the patient's prior consent, except in cases where a life is in danger. Do you think that this ruling will be effective?

Lionking says: yes this is a very good judgement ... patients and their families have the right to know the procedures that are being adopted by the doctors ... and pre-intimation and taking the patients consent is the way to go ...

LP53 says: Yes, a precedent has been set. Effective? It is in our hands, the patients and their relatives, if we want to demand our rights.

Niceguy251 says: It is because of some unethical doctors that this judgement was necessiated. Patient and relatives must know before the operation if there is likelihood of any complication needing further surgery or procedure and affect of that on cost. It is possible for doctors to indicate that.

vIRTUALsCORPIO says: If Doctors had been truely faithful 2 the oath they take, this wud not have been necessary. Anything that can bring fairness is welcome

Busbyee says: yes, effective with an educated patient. unless ofcourse, the concerned operation is not being done to steal a kidney or two..

Savy says: it is a very good decision...especially so for eg in cases of angioplasty..when the patient is having angiography and the procedure is halfway through..normal practice for the docs is to take the inference of the test to the relatives and usually a go through signal is wrested.relatives usually cow down listen to the extent of blockages and the hapless patient is totally oblivious...many a times it is not recquired also. This ws just one example..results are inflated bills and avoidable invasion of the patient's body.

Ruggedboyz says: i hope this law brings in fairness into the business of medical procedure and relieves people of the bizzare billing that hapless people are mainly subjected to giving where the admin get away giving technical jargons which they have no clue of, also should help people in drawing the medicos to court when in doubt and live in peace ta ta

ID Proof and Terrorist Activities

From January 15, any citizen living in the National Capital can be asked by police to produce his or her identity proof, failing which could land the person in trouble. “The decision to verify the identity of citizens has been taken to step up security in the wake of recent terror attacks in various parts of the country. The checking would help prevent such incidents,” Lieutenant Governor Tejinder Khanna told reporters. Do you think that this move will be helpful in eliminating terrorist activities ?

Lp says: Every Indian should be issued with an all-purpose ID card.

Virtualscorpio says:Unfortunately, i do not see this helping in curbing terriorism. How difficult is it 2 get a fake ID card. Maybe all of Rs. 50/- A red light at a traffic signal means stop. How many do???? Rules r gud if followed, else u can keep adding them & corruption keeps going up.

Busybee says: wont work. If some people can get 4-5 passports, whats a piddly little ID card ??

Ruggedboyz says: While the step is one taken in order to stepup the security measures and bring in more security to the citizens it is at the cost of putting natives to atmost inconvience and burden of always having a card as a citizen in his own land, which is upon his office id, his driving licence, his credit debit cards and his other membership cards ala gym, discount cards et al but i have the feeling if it was a simple number given which could be memorised and produced and found in the database it would have been much easier than a citizen card above his passport and election id and co..

Lionking says: i think the Lt.Gov. of Delhi had to meet Delhi CM on this issue and this ID card was not made compulsory after that meeting ... as its a political hot potato ! it still holds is it ??? we still need ID on delhi roads is it ??? i am not sure ... but, the idea of a Citizen Identity Card for the people of India is a good idea ... but its also a logistical nightmare for the government !

Niceguy251 says: It will definitely help containing terrorism if we could have foolproof method of issueing ID cards which can not be tempered with or faked. It is a dream which may come true sometime.

GussaWaala says: Chalo now we are on the path to becoming a police state.

Mumbai Molestation and lack of gender sensitisation

Two NRI women were molested by a mob of about 70 men during New Year revelries near Juhu beach .Do you think that this type of incident happens due to lack of gender sensitisation and values? Are you satisfied with the role of police in this case?
Lp53 says:blame it on ethanol, and unfulfilled libido. We can't be a police state

Ajnabi says: blame to our value syatem.. we have lost our roots, we hardly teach our culture and value to our kids.. the grown up genetation doesnt want ot apply there mind to what they are doing.. the do it for so called fun.. cause they think mob has the power to do anything they want.. who in the crowd doesnt have wife, sister or mother.. can they even imagin the same with there family members.. can make exactly make eye contacts with them.. y cant we just treat women just as another human being.. is it so tough.. or do we need harsh rules to control this thing.. gender sensitisation is also something that we only have creted..

The bard says: guess this new year's eve saw few more such horrible incidents...we need to teach such morons that women in real life dont enjoy being groped, though they give excited expressions in bollywood movies...bfore that we need such tough laws that even the mere thought of treating women like this should vanish..probably public stoning or castration

Ruggedboyz says: it is rather disturbing to hear this news for those who do this should better go to a brothel then trouble women on the road it is also disturbing that unlike in US where on festival days ala christmas and new year the state order bans sales of alcohol not thing of that sort is exercisedin india a day before any grandly celebrated day also it will help if the police can be at vigil on those freaky few days to keep law under control when they are mobs of good and also evil bunch on the hike on a really different note the clothes where really tight to call a drunken guy on a new year day

Lionking says: this episode will remain a black spot for the suppossedly "safe city for women" tag of mumbai. but i am glad that mumbai police is doing some fast progress in the case ...

Savy says: this problem ahs always been there..this time it took on bigger proportions..guess alcohol emboldened them more n that they do get away scot free. Police has never ever performed upto expectation..so why bring them in picture at all.
Shweta says: This only means that crowd or the number of people implies no safety .Crowd can actually turn against you.The mob has the power to do anything they want.Women should actually learn how to protect themselves. We should actually not depend upon anyone for our safety.I think women should actually be well equipped to handle such situations.

Niceguy251 says:I really hang my head in shame on this. I feel root cause of such behaviour by men is lack of knowledge how to be in mixed group. By segregating children genderwise right from lower classes we do not expose them to know what is it to be in a mixed group and how to behave in a respectable manner thereon. We need to encourage free mixing of boys and girls with due education about moral values and of course sex education as appropriate to age of children.

Virtualscorpio says: U cant have police everywhere. Its we, the masses who have 2 have morals, awareness, values. May wiser council prevail, even now.

Busybee says: yea, its the result of alcohol and unfulfilled libido, combined with bad parenting. This coupleed with the fact that most eveteasers get away with the behavior bcos most women do not report this. The situation in this case got out of hand because one of the women is said to have abused them for passing comments.
