New Cricket Captain

Should India have a new cricket captain?

Vrij said…
Yes. Nothing against Rahul, but some change at the helm does a deal of good.

bronel said…
NO Rahul is great and always be.......... India just need a local coach......... may be Sandip Patil or Sanjay Manjerekar........to name

lavina said…
hmm..yea..we need a fresh lease of life....

DecentmonKey said…
I favour different captain's for Tests and ODIs.. Rahul is suitable as test cricket captain.. For ODIs we need a younger aggressive captain..

lostpatrol53 said…
First, a new manager; then let us think of a captain or two.

now of the dravid thiong well u need to realize this that we should not just pull thw whip out and start whipping the favorite indian whipping boys of ours but think with our brains not onces in our knees but one in the head between the ears next up the team lead the man down and believe u me get another man to lead them and the result will be excatly the same and so the 'need of the hour' is to motivate the jaded souls instead of just pulling one out and putting other ON dravid is doing just fine and he hasnt yet been tested enough to be removed its not fair at all to polish off the talented man

anjali said…
yes, i think we need an aggressive captain.........

Amar said…
i dont think so, Dravid is good enuf. What we need is good pitches for ranji games and timely entry of new talent...ofcourse the exits aswell.

VishGranted said…
ohhhhh definateldy we needs some changes , right from the bottom to the top, we need an agressive captain, if rahul dravid could vouch for sehwag this world cup, where was he when saurav was under the hammer, this kind of dichotomy cannot be put up with.

blogesh said…
yes, we need an aggressive captain.

frenchita said…
No..we dont have to make drastic changes all at one time .. get rid of chapell ...already have .....and now we should choose a local indian coach .. then sit back and see the transformation ...yessss bronel has hit the nail on the head :)

Withdrawal of the Army from Jammu Kashmir

Do you think that PDP's insistence on the withdrawal of the Army from J&K is in the interest of country?

GussaWaala said…
Military is needed in Kashmir to protect the borders. No one in Kashmir has the right to prevent that. Army policing the streets of Kashmir? Yes, and for several reasons. Its not the job of Army, it really hasnt helped. terrorism is still rampant. So why not try a new startegy.

Hot Shayaris said…
Military is of course required... what's gone wrong into the heads of these PDP's?I think PDP's gone mad.. how come they are considering removal of ARMY from JAMMU & KASHMIR?????

nz said…
They are obviously not very smart to even suggest such a thing !

lostpatrol53 said…
Q1: Who is PDP? A1: Senior partner in ruling alliance, led by Syed Mufti and his daughter Mehbooba Mufti, X-INC politicians. Q2: Who captured Mehabooba once and how was she freed? A2: The Kasmiri feedom fighters kidnapped her. Delhi bartered thier companions in its jail to free Mehbooba. Q3: Why did she not persuade them to release her unconditionally? Were they Sheik Abdulla's men who kidnapped her? A3: Once she needed army to help her end the Abdulla dynasty. Now, her politics has changed. She wants the separatists on her side. Because the abdullas have gone over to teh NDP side. Q4: What shall we do? Withdraw the Army? to where? To the borders, forward mobilization? A4: Yes, let us withdraw the army from the streets. Let them go back to barracks and border posts. If 700,000 men were to be stationed at forward posts on border, Musharraf might squeel. His Sino and Yankee godfathers will be told hwo can he fight terror on his western flank when the Indian Army is breathing down his neck on eastern flank. Q5: What is the alternative? A5: Simple. Appoint Mehabooba Mufti to Indian Cabinet and make her the Defence Minister. The Army will be withdrawn. Private armies of Abdulla, Dar, Lone, Shah, Patel, Mufti, Azad and such 370 outfits will kill each other and Kashmir people will be finally free of terrorist's Ak-47.

frenchita said…
No its not ... do not remove the military... not ..but add more ..seal off the border completely so the ISI agents dont cross . as you catch the Kashmiri terrorists who deserve no trial, ...exterminate them for the vermin they are ...

tejbir said…
as for the question... i am a kashmiri though born and brought up in Delhi but i've been going here almost every year till a decade back as many relatives lived there, so i might be reflecting the feeling of a kashmiri & not of a muslim or a hindu Yes, the army must be taken away! It will be a tough decision but it needs to be supported by some strong measures like good opportunities for the kashmiri youth opportunities for earning/doing business/getting education and here i want my country to do what our Father of the nation would have done - continue the growth measures for the state and the people and win them over agreed it will take time and pain, but that is the only solution and to counter army withdrawal, give some additional powers to police and make sure we deploy police personnel who are above any doubt and have shown exemplary integrity

DecentmonKey said…
Of course not ! Army should be stationed at every border of the country and in more numbers at J&K border !

Blood Pressure and Happiness

Researchers at Warwick University have discovered a strong correlation between a country's happiness and its blood pressure problems.
Do you think that Blood Pressure should be a measure of happiness?

abx said…
more happy u r less will be ur BP (that may rise others........hehe)

DecentmonKey said…
Yes it can be, not completely, but among one of the measures of happiness.

tejbir said…
when i see a beautiful girl i get happy and when she looks at me the heart skips a beat and the BP rises so u see BP could be related to being happy but the root cause is that beautiful girl twist in the research, please tell the Warwick fellows ;) LOLZZZZZZZZZZZ

ruggedboyz said…
i totally agree wth the statement that blood pressure be a measure of happiness coz when u aint happy then u have this men who have over flowing bloddpresuure and heart attacks as a result so should be so is all i think

frenchita said…
if contrast to happiness is worry ...which brings high tension ,raises adrenaline and contributes to blood pressure ..then that is true on the other hand ..depression which also brings unhappiness wiil not raise your pressure . other contributors to high blood pressure are obesity . smoking and race ( eg . african americans have a genetic disposition for extremely high blood pressure which often kills them at young age of 30 sometimes )

lostpatrol53 said…
Empirical correlationships speak volumes about the methodology of such surveys, rather than the issue surveyed. What is the finding? Happness and BP are inversely related or other way round. Both ways, it could be rationalised. It is simpliflying a complex problem.

World Cup 2007 and Exams

With World Cup clashing with examinations in India, the cricket fever is replacing exam tension. Do you think that World Cup fever will affect the performance of students in the exams?
If yes, what precaution should they take?

Vrij said…
Not to such a great extent. The matches are gonna be telecast past 7pm and so, to a considerabale extent, should not trouble the students. Plus, by the time the REAL matches start, the exams shud have gotten over.

blogesh said…
yes that will affect ! and abt precautions.. its not with the students but with the parents they have to take.. veeery tough job :-))) fortunately i dont fall in either categories so.... N joy hu-ha-india... lage raho :-)

frenchita said…
the world cup will definitely affect the exams . .not much can be done .to change that .. unless the universities in the future postpone their exam timings by a week or so. eg take Europe ..when world soccer tournaments are in progress ...everything else is at a standstill...taken for granted that people dont show up for work....

DecentmonKey said…
Cricket is a passion in our country, the present team is in sublime form and it is a mega event.. so, there is bound to be some diversion in the minds of students, which will affect their preparations for the exams..

lostpatrol53 said…
Upside: No tension means students will do better at exams. The vigilant officers are likely to fall asleep, having had late nights, so the students can ineract better during exams, achieving equality of performance. Downside: Those who have no access to Nimbus, Limbus, and Kala Khatta will miss the opportunity to score better as they will be gripped by exam tension. Solution: 76% of all higher education admissions should be resrved for those who can demonstrate by circumstantial evidence or produce parental certificates stating that they have not watched the world cup.

Lavina said…
arey nai nai!!!!! d students of our country are pretty sensible......;) all the best to all of them :)

ruggedboyz said…
now the world cup cant be postponed coz it happens this time of the year every time nor the exams so the thing being is when their is an immediate exams the pupils should depend on the news reports and glimpses of the match on news channel else if they have the time watch the first 15 and then last ten overs to know the result when a lil more time on hand also watching indias matches only will leave a lot of time on hand

tejbir said…
arey yaar exams in my way of cricketing extravaganza too but ho gaya manage - courtesy granny each student will find his way out - they are lot more smart these days around

Budget 2007 and Bloggers Views

Do you think the Budget 2007 is a people-friendly one?

lostpatrol53 said…
As long as the focus is on raising revenues and not on cutting wasteful (non-plan expenditure), it is going to anti-people.

Gul said…
hmmmm......Budget....!khaas nahi. kuchha bhi khaas nahi aam ke liye.bas ek zunzunaa. keep smiling. have a nice day, tk,bbye.

nz said…
It doesnt affect me but I think it wasnt extraordinary, no surprises there.Happy Holi to you :-)

hi, i would say that..country is developing in all sectors, country is making waves in whole world, but still india is agricultural country, i dont want to see it neglecting its route. inflation is on the rise the couse is farmers made to sell their land to industrial usage and real estate companies and as a result our food production is getting hurt... its really a matter of deep concern

frenchita said…
in name only in Chidambaran's own words ,even as he is increasing spending on education health care , transportation , he adds that there will be a lot of seepage and leaks from the pipe line .before the money reaches the destination .It is estimated tht 40% of the fruits and vegetables and grains rot becaue they do not reach the customers most important ..no government so far has dared to change the labour laws because they are afraid and until some government is courageous enough to do that ..India shining has a long way to go....

DecentmonKey said…
No.. Inflation was not addressed well.. this seriously affects a large chunk of population as the benefits of growth take long time (years) to trickle down..

umesh said…
Governmental failure to check growing inflation overshadows the advantages of incentives given by the finance minister to common public. I fully agree with LP. Cheers,

IMO, it is a surprise that budget did not have any surprise! it seems the sword of FRBM Act is hanging on PC's head!
