Globalisation: Good or Bad?

Can globalisation be a force for good or is it just a charade for big business to exploit poor countries?

Harshal said...
it can be good... like one big nuclear family...although no everyone likes big families..there can be many fights...

Busybee said...
Globalisation is a charade for big business to exploit poor countries or a largely consumer kind of a country. Then the developed countries protect their own markets by imposing anti dumping duties on other countries, or banning imports all together. So Globalisation should be followed on a case to case basis with countries which have mutual trading patterns. Duties should be rigged on the basis of countries and not evenly across the board for all the countries.

The biggest advantage of globalization is that even the smallest countries without any political clout can prosper by selling their product , mostly agricultural ...easy availability of a variety of products at a lesser cost autmomatically benefits the average consumer ..quality improves also ... ...on the contrary .take protectionism as it is practised in Japan which limits the trade on farm products , rice etc from other countries resulting in high cost of living for the Japanese consumer eg a melon which costs $ 1.50 in the US costs $10 in Japan .

globalization...nice word to hear that our our world is being contracted to a single globe.... but its the outlook only...today also we have so many things divided .... but any way the word globalization will soon gain its full meaning....

look i dunno much, but everything is both good and bad.... the way i perceive it.... it makes the economy grows quicker,,,,,,but takes the creativity out of the people of our country.......u know...we have now ready made things at hand, which very well could ve been indian goods, that is if we wanted..... but guess now that people are earning good, they want everything too fast and thats why globilazation maybe works out well.....

Solution to terrorism

What is the best solution to defeat terrorism?

raj said...
the best way to kill terrorism is to to zero tolrent worldwide. our loss is not as great as usa loss. 9/11 and 7/11 are seen diffrently.so we have to rebellios, go into the training zone and attack, same as usa did. best form of defence is attack. world has to accept our geograpic compulsions of being next to pakistan.

Harshal said...
hmm... best way to defear terrorism? no clue.. might as well bomb them... well..they started it. Hunt em down..and don't put em in prison, giving them time to plan thier next operation... hunt em and shoot em on sight..in the head.. nice way to end terrorism..however..do be 100% sure that the guy you shoot is a terrorist

Busybee said...
The best way to defeat terrorism is to kill them all. Now this is a very simple solution, but may be we can first try and find out if they they have any worthy cause or reasons for doing this, because for now terrorism is associated with whatever Pakistan is sponsoring, where as the truth is Naxal's are wreacking as much havoc, then we had so many other terror outfits like the BODO militants, ULFA and so on... Increased intelligence and vigilance by citizens would go a long way in combating terrorism too, and preventing events like 7/11.

shanks said...
Over a billion people in our country... different thoughts different perspectives....by killing a terrorist , well give birth to 2 others....fear of 'us' will 5/10 terrorist but not the remainig 5 , they will come and blast our population anyway, and when their heroic deeds will be sung , 5 other fearless will come forward and join the adventure.... .. i feel information ( read.... education, exciting one's conscience), is the key. the method is a long term but might be affective. Look faulty goverment policies are a ppart of root of any form of terrorism world wide. look at usa, first they fuelled afganistan against russia, and now they are fighting them.... so honest policies,,,with education and love with the right amount of "whiping from our side might help lower the incidences,,,,, remember our conscience has to be clean and honest before we set out , to take on others....

masoomrocky said...
The best way to eradicate terrorism is to form an advanced intelligence bureau... It should be in the the agenda of UN. all the countires should help each other in eradicating terrorism. There should be no nuclear deals with Countries like Pakistan, afghanistan and gulf countries. Usa is supporting pakistan by providing ammunition. All the coastlines should be under vigilance and people from pakistan, bangladesh and other gulf countries should not be granted VISA. Even countires like USA,london, and spain hve been the targets of bomb blasts..so It is unfair to say that It always happens in India.... It is really unfortunate that we are always wasy targets and we just cant do anything to stop terrorist attacks

Rural posting for Doctors

If government makes a national policy that would require medical graduates throughout
the country to serve a five years compulsory rural posting as an eligibility condition to acquire
a licence to practise , do you think that it will be effective ?

Ashiya said...
Very good thought..... but if u ask me if this is possible..... nope

blogesh said...
Good thought, but doubtful about that since same question will be raised for other professions too

tejbir said...
i think anything forcefully done will not be fruitful rather than forcing/making compulsory some incentives should be give to work in rural areas like banks can be asked to give loans at lower rates of interest to fund doctors who set up clinics/hospitals in rural areas (and banks be allowed to take such funding as priority lending and claim benefits) or publicly recognising doctors/nurses who give selfless service in rural areas how about decorating them with awards like bharat bhushans and vibhushans children of such doctors/nurses should be given scholarships such doctors/nurses should be given rebates on taxes etc etc but no compulsion under duress, i may do but i may not perform

DecentmonKey said...
it will not be effective.. the better way will be to provide more salary, facilities and incentives, imo.. tc..

I see that Indians dont like anything forced on them . But friends, that is precisely how a nation can get its citizens to help the country . What is wrong with compulsory " anything " ? Compulsory army training over 18years is a good idea ,so is compulsory vasectomy to curb population .Compulsory rural medical practice is wonderful ..perhaps not for 5 years , but one or two . During my internship ( that is following medical school and before issuance of license ) , I was stationed at a rural clinic around Mumbai area for 3 months . This same line of thought can be followed , perhaps severe rural areas chosen around each state .. a stipend paid ..and then only the license given . I can already see a long list of students wriggling their way out of the ordinance , by bribing or using influence .. this won't do ...strict enforcement necessary .

tell u what .. u enforce this law .. ppl wud find some loope holes to escape out of it ... whether enforce of not .. I am sure once a docter ppl wud love to earn more money and make use of the profession in a economically benificial way ... on the contrary some ppl do dedicate their lives for practice in their home town or in small villages .. and do selfless service .. such ppl are treated as fools by society ... so whatz the point here??? whether enforced or not .. thatz the way things are going to be for next 100 yrs ... next question

Busybee said...
Good idea but not for five years, it should be for two years. But docs with specializations cannot be easily made to go to rural postings, as they would be under utilised. Maybe for such cases, there should be a posting in govt hospitals.

wise donkey said...
Its ridiculous. And why just doctors, would people from other professions volunteer to work in rural India for 5 years! You have to pay a lot to become a doctor, and while it will be easy for the rich, it will make it tougher for the poor doctor to earn and pay back the loans. The problem with rural healthcare isnt just the lack of doctors, but the lack of basic infrastructure. Of course, incentives can be given for voluntary shifting to rural areas. 63% of injections in India is unsafe, lets start with changing atleast that..

Haan hona to yasa hi chaahiye...aur ye sahi bhi hai,but yesa hota kaha hai? Jab ki esse anivaarya kar dena chaahiye. Ek kaanun ke tahat. Saharon mein kai Hospitals hote hai but gaon mein dur-daraaj mein matra ek chotasa Hospital.Jaha koi doctor aana nahi chaahtaa.Gar koi hai bhi to... kya haal hai vaha ke... ye sab jaate hai. Doctor ka pesha ek sanmaaneey pesha hai .jise sabhi bade aadar aur sanmaan se dekhate hai.But is Ihasaas ka abhav Doctors mein dekha gayaa hai. Jo pataa nahi kyu Gaon mein nahi jaana chaahte hai.Hamaare bharat mein Gaon mein doctors ki jyaada jarurat hai. Hum es niyam ke paksha mein hai ki bahut hi kadai se eska paalan hona chahiye.Aur ese ek anivaryataa ke rup mein laagu kerna hi hitkar hoga.

Population problem and Law

Population is one of the main problems for the devlopment of our country.
If government makes any law in this regard irrespective of caste and community,
do you think that it will be helpful?

lavina said...
the government should wake up to this. What about special incentives, tax benefits and all to those with only 1-2 children???

wise donkey said...
when the maid has 6 kids its a population problem, when a socialite like Shobha & Dilip De has six, its their private affair But instead of laws, let it tackle the health issues. The sterlization camps where more than 100s are operated when the government norm is not more than 20 or the bicycle pumps used for putting air into the women's abdomen before laparoscopic operations or the lack of sterlization in all surgical equipments, would be a start.. http://www.indiatogether.org/2004/jun/hlt-poplctrl.htm Every 5 minutes a woman dies from giving birth in our country. And Bangladesh and Sri Lanka have better rates than us! Thats our healthcare today. Population is people, people arent the problem, its the attitudes that are the problem.. The rich with even a car pollute the environment, and when people dont have water to wash themselves, there is alwas plenty of water in pools and to wash the cars. The problems of the earth, like global warming wasnt created by the huge population, but by the rich who think they can do whatever they want as long as they can pay for it.. Some common people have more than one kid 1.If its a girl, they think i would need a boy to take care.Introduce Social Security system. 2.Almost One in EVERY THREE babies in the world, who die before they are four weeks old is in India. For a parent whoose earlier child has died, it makes sense to have more kids and hope atleast some of them survive. 3.Lack of awareness of contraceptive, Sex education means taking care of your body. If sex education is tough word, then change it to body education and educate..thats tough when 50% of Indians dont go to even primary school 4,Women DONT HAVE THE RIGHT TO SAY NO TO SEX, OR INSIST ON CONTRACEPTION. Marital Rape is stil not a crime in our country (though we agreed to make it a crime more than a decade back). Make Marital Rape a crime 5.The stupidity of the 1 child incentives lies in the fact that men can have many children and not let the world know about it, unlike women and women have to pay the penalty for not abandoning their child or killing hte child before its birth.. 6.Its medically less complicated for the men to have their tubes tied than for the women to get their uterus removed. But how many men would do think of that..Perhaps the question should have been, Is Vasectomy Cool..

Busybee said...
Yes, such a law would be helpful. we should do what China did...i.e. all govt benefits to be withdrawn for the third child onwards. But then what would happen if the ppl are very poor and still have more than 2 kids ? How will these ppl cope for say medical benefits & the food from PDS/ration etc ?

lostpatrol53 said...
Please read my post titled 'are we a human bomb ready to explode?" for my views.

simi said...
its neither poor ppl nor uneducated ones who go for more than 2 children...its mostly unwanted pregnancies and illegal children who r forced into this world... now a days..which couple wants more than 2....leave some exceptions. Even the poor ppl realises the responsibilities and the expenditure involves and thinks for lesser children. so i think...everyone shud be taught about sex and conception.

tejbir said...
population is indeed the main culprit of all problems of our nation but the method suggested to counter it that is by legislation, is not foolproof and not long lasting check it, strict rules have only encouraged rule-breaking rather, education about ill effects of excess children if seeped well into the minds of indians, esp rural indians will help long term

frenchita said...
population control should be even across the board .no compromises ...pretty much like the Chinese are doing .. will solve so many problems ..hope Government gives it number one priority ...definitely laws should be made irrespective of community and social status and enforced too ..

Max said...
the minorties will be crying foul if such a law is even contemplated :D:D:D

contraceptive awareness...simple..you know those nice posters of people in their underwear and pictures of B grade movies everywhere..remove that..put a nice poster of a condom and its uses... but hey..as russel peters said, india and china are the most populated countries in the world..and we will be responsible for eradicating racism and color ..no white people...no black people..everyone will be beige...coz face it..india..second largest population in the world..sooner or later..we gonna hump ya...
