Cellphones and Kids

Do you think that cellphones are distancing kids from their family?

absolutely yes! they are at a call away from the distractions..and most of the time havenot heard whatever is told to them..repeating becomes so irritating and avoidable exercise. They are tuned 24x7 to their own planet...

Don't know about distancing from family ..but kids should not be allowed to have cell phones unless it is to keep in touch .. for safety's sake . It has been abused , both by parents and kids alike . Granted the cell phones are a boon ,but also the reason for car accidents ,aloofness from family and nuisance at airports .

I think kids should learn every thing from their childhood. They need to learn how to use phone so that in emergency they can contact their parents or handle the situation. Also it makes the kids more tech savvy.

There are several pros and cons to that question, I agree. And I'm on the side of the one that works to keep the family unit ---- intact, sound, and working together responsibly on areas of major concern. But Everything in life, as we all know it to be, has its own time and place. So for our children --- it's their time to be children. Let them then be themselves - children! A celphone too soon will rob them of the beautiful innocense and simplicity of childhood. How are you, Shrawan? Hope that the week was good to you. May the weekend be just as fine. God bless you and your family. :-)

I dont see how mobiles could be distancing kids from their families, but this could surely spoil them for the worse, as a distraction.

i guess it depends... women, teenage women specifically should NOT be given cellphones... they talk for ages...I have seen my sister's cellphone bill...ranges in a 4 figure amount...mine is around 700 everytime... cellphones are crucial so kids can communicate with their parents if in crisis or any situation...basically they are for emergency use...not to call up a friend to chit chat.

cellphones are useful. its upto the parents to lay down the rules and prevent misuse and also look in to the health aspects of its frequent usage.

Well some times its good to have an established communication channel with kids .. there are phones that have pre configured dailing. they should be good. but then giving then a phone with extensive dialing I would discourage

today most important is to make children understand the use and misuse of technology as it is useful to them as well as harmful.......u can't be vigilant all the time and can't restrict them also....as dey hv always upperhand in dis case.........jitna aap nahi jante ho dey knows about the latest gizmos so........just make them aware of everything is i think the best way........:)) noway........the relationship is gonna affect in my opinion......
