Constitution and definition of Minority

The Constitution under a group of articles from 25 to 30 provides for the fundamental rights enjoyed by minority groups- be it linguistic or religious. But there is no clear cut definition of 'minority' in our Constitution.
Why is the expression 'minority'- such a touchy word- undefined under Constitution? Do you think that it is in the interest of country?

"...provides for the fundamental rights...". In my opnion that means every citizen will enjoy fundamental rights irrespective of any minority in regional, religious, lingual background. Meaning, no overpower by other majority will govern. That MUST have been penned for ensuring co-existence and peacefull living rights for every citizen. Unfortunately we dont hv Dr Ambedkar to slap these days politicians who have played majority-minority card for past 60 years. Politicians hv made that word untouchy by changing our perception...

Even though the High court's directive as Muslims no longer being a minority in the state is being hailed as biased n controversial..but given the statistics..even I personally believe why should a certaing class which is also heavily multiplying should enjoy any benefits of minorities..it is as bad a s the issue of reservation..the class divide should only be on the bas e of income per se.

hmmm never thought about that. You can say that we are minority here but I wouldnt want any special rights/priviliges/reservations - same rights as every other citizen is good enough.

Calling a group of people of minority the state just alienates them and makes them feel vulnerable

LOL, you should know better. Its called divide and rule. Our rulers taught us that. There is a saying "you can run but you cannot hide." We may claim to be independent but we still live by the constructs created by our rulers (the brits). And please dont blame the Brits for this. They did what they had to do. We are stupid enough (oops I meant we have 4000 years of history to make us superior) to have adopted the British policies :-)
