Impact on Society :- Good - people get 2 know literary, penning and many more skills about fellow bloggers on the forum. exchange of good writeups, thoughts, analysis of current topics etc. Bad - Blogs which make their way on TOI homepage , all except a few end up in religion bashing, bad mouthing. Bottomline - To enhance your GK on *both sides above * keep blogging :-) . I would always prefer first one.

HI boss: The impact of blogs on society - it gives them a reason to think otherwise also which is sometime a lot different from the news. It improves writing style as well as forces to think the other side of the story. As blogs are mostly written by the ones who are not professional writers, even the boring subjects are written interestingly. Like i hv just written something on politics... :) :D :D :D :D cheers...skj

blogging though has grown very fast but its not significant enough as yet to have any impact on the society blog is just a small aspect of the phenomenon called internet! and as far as indian society goes the impact of internet is yet to be felt in a big effective way! so there's a long way to go b4 blogs on themselves have any effect

I like what Blogesh has said here .. Like Tej explains , not much impact on society yet . My personal experience has been positive . Lots of exchange of ideas , diff. personalities to deal with , new abillity to understand the opposing view ,meeting nice folks , learning to like poetry ,and reserving my less favourable comments for fear of hurting others . ( restraint )

yes in india it hasn't caught up on the effect on society as yet.. But in the future, i see the blogging world to rise as an independent media form where each blogger is a reporter, editor, cameraman and producer rolled into one. What we are going to see is a great stream of views and activities, management of which would be a difficult as well as a profitable business ie managing of blogs by the servers. Many bloggers who have very successful blogs have gone into forming their own servers and collecting revenue from advertisements. I see many bloggers choosing this way of blogging in the future. But blogs would, in the future, be used as a method of mass tipping off of any matter. as seen in Kaavya Vishwanathan's case, in the blogging world, justice is done Town-Hall style ie the panchayat style you can call it. Whether this is good or bad, cannot be judged right now.

To add on to some nice feedback already here, blogs are a good platform for expression and to be heard on topics of interest of the blogger.. since every individual is part of the society, it does have a small impact now.. and surely heading towards holding a bigger impact in future.. Cheers..

Frankly.. None. The blogging community is just too small to have sort of practical impact as yet on the society.

For whatever reason people keep a blog it still is a slow stride to what it can become someday. Right now it serves beautifully as a channel or bridge to other peoples, cultures, and ideas..... and serves wonderfully as one's expression of 'self'. Just one thing tho, I hope this priviledge won't be used for 'bad' --for abusive material or intent which could hurt people.

Impact on society: well well well........ I think Blooging cool.. Coz it gives people a space, a openeing to express themeselves.... write watever you wanna write.. and enjoy..... It becomes Uncool when at times someone expresses his/her view and if someone doesnt agree then at times not reqd war.... thats at times irritating.......... Else blogging is fun... :-)

Considering that an unbelievably small percentage of our population has access to let alone read these blog, I doubt there is any impact. However, all large movements have small beginnings :-)
