Housewives of Grandma Generation

Does Today's Mom Work Harder Than Housewives of Grandma's Generation?

Sharad said…
No, bcoz aajkal ki mummy log ka aadha kaam to bai karti hai, baki aadhe ka aadha papa log karte hain aur bacha hua hota nahi hai.

i bet they do.........they've got to learn the use and handling of so many gadgets :))))

well according to me, theres no comparison. back then the housewives used to do the household chores. the families were joint rather than nuclear. the workload was more on the housewife. nowadays, moms are working. and balancing work life and professional life aint a simple feat. agreed tht the bai does majority of the work, but its not like moms dont work at all. so wud finally like to conclude by saying that, moms of previous generations were majorly into household work (100%), and moms of the present generation are into professional work(60%) as well as house hold work(40%)

BIG NO !

different circumstances ..diifferent sets of values ill go with blogesh ..grandmas worked harder :)

No Now a days they have maids to help cooking , cleaning. they have only 1 kid who is at day care and school. hubby helps her in almost everything. nucleus families ....so no one to take care of , etc ... Hats off to Grandma gen ladies !

lavina said…
ek to na yeh debate...samajh sa nahi aaya...:) I mean why do we need to compare our moms to our grandmoms na??? Each one is operating in an environment with some or the other obstacles....lets be fair enough to them.

i think moms r tough as always.......... only d way they tackle wid d things getting improved wid d help of technologies...............:DD tc bye

do men today work harder than the grandpa's generation? why omit to ask that? why do we need questions like these. obviously it differs with different individuals. today women face different challenges, and when a woman dies every 5 minute due to childbirth in India and when she can be better off in Bangladesh or Sri Lanka, I would say things have not changed in a real sense for women. atleast in those days, people accepted women had issues, now people just focus on ash and shilpa and think women are doing fine..

Ban on AXN

The Centre has banned AXN channel for telecasting the “obscene” programme, World’s Sexiest Commercials. Is this move is in public interest or politically motivated?
lostpatrol53 said…
Neither. Our babus and netas still think they are our conscience keepers.

frenchita said…
whether it be politically motivated or not , the center has done well to ban this channel .

blogesh said…
content filter needs to be there in my opinion. i dont think this is politically motivated. however permanent solution need to be drawn on such issues which keep on going intermittently. btw, what about AXing the political netas who have crime records & cleansing the political system so that we setup good moral icons for our future generation ?

GussaWaala said…
How come the center does not ban corruption? Oops! they would end up banning themselves. Once again GOI has proven that they are nothing but a bunch of idiots with nothing better to do.

DecentmonKey said…
After consulting public, it should have laws and checks in place instead of such bans and moral policing at their descrition..

I can't understand who are they to dictate what we can or cannot watch. The adults know what to watch and what not and what to let their children watch and what not. The centre should ban most of the Bollywood movies and TV serials too if they want to ban 'obscene' programmes.Thats my opinion anyway.

Crap.. let them ban the loose moralled women on *+ openly having extra-marital affairs on prime time tv.. let them ban the rakhi sawants gyrating to lewd n lowd sounds(not music)... let them ban bikini draped FTV that airs 'midnight hot' program at 6pm !!

Sharad said…
It is in public interest. Exam aane wale hai yaar, aur agar bacche aur maa-baap raat bhar baith ke aise program dekhenge to phir result ka kya hoga ;)

?? ok see now you have truly lost me... I thought english is taught from kindergarten..A B C D... but wait..are you referring to the SSC schools or something? either way its obvious that I support this statement..everyone should know english.. lets face it... its the most popular language in the world..wish that was hindi or gujju but kya kare..have to settle for english.

Umesh said…
It is a welcome development. In report submitted to Prime Minister, National knowledge Commission headed by Sam Pitroda has recommended for sweeping reforms in education, in line with the economic development India is presently witnessing. This will however invite anger among the people who support education on regional language based, specially in states like Karnataka, Maharashtra, Tamilnadu, Kerala etc. cheers,

blogesh said…
Yes I do support.

frenchita said…
Yes English should be taught from early on .plus the regional language as well .

amita said…
Yup most important

wise donkey said…
I agree :)

lavina said…
yes it should be taught!! Also, Hindi or any other regional language :)

Sex Ratio

There has been a very sharp decline in the sex ratio in India in the past decade .
What are the factors responsible for this?

lavina said…
Attitude!!! towards female children....... belief !!!that they arent equal to male children treatment!!! of second class citizens.

abhilasha said…
one important reason is Inheritece.. all knows that the only boy hold the name of forefathers..

umesh said…
The bias against females in India is related to the fact that sons are looked to as a type of insurance. With this perspective, it becomes clearer that the high value given to males decreases the value given to females. The problem of marriage expenses and dowry system where a family of a prospective bride must pay enormous sums of money to the family in which the woman will live after marriage is also the reason.in rural India, the centuries-old practice of female infanticide and foeticide and still be considered as major reason. sex-selective abortion in urban India supported by greedy doctors are also important reason.

wise donkey said…
1.clinics which mention the sex of the child. (The decrease has increased with every decade. and no doctor has been punished till date, even though more than a million girls have died due to this) 2.Social thought that the son should take care of the family. (after all will baghban been a hit, if Amitabh had 4 daughters?) Either son in laws should take care of the girl's parents too or parents should stop spending on higher education and marriage and save that amount for their retirement. 3.Lack of awareness amongst guys that they dont get girlfriends because of this dwindling ratio.

Santosh said…
I think the main reason behind this is the insecurity for womens increasing in India. The way womens are getting raped very easily even in Police stations not less even childrens of 3-4 years are being raped. This is just irritating to anyone. So the peoples thinking better to have male baby. I dont support the abotrtions of female baby. But I think this may be a major reason behind this.

simi said…
I will say something different, its happening because of increase in disregard for/of females. and lack of awareness between the females themselves.

anjali said…
its old tradition dat sons r more important to continue d family tree and most importantly last rites cn be performed by them only..........we r trained like dat..............so we r greedy watever dey do wid us in dis world bt dey cn only lead us to salvation.........to d other world...........its really ridiculous........we need to change our outlook altogether.........its pity dat even educated ppl believe in dis....... tc bye

Hershey Desai said…
Speaking on general terms, if people are frankly, aborting the baby on finding out its a girl, thats just a damn shame. On what grounds really would you want an abortion? women these days do everything,...almost everything men do. Doctors lawyers engineers, hell..I have seen dozens of women who outrank the best of guys in engineering... my request..come on guys..keep the ratio in balance... i went out with a lot of gals when I was in college...am sure you guys must have to..don't you want your son to have that privilege? how do expect him to go with girls if they are so hard to find... the only alternative then is...guys?? don't even wanna go there...
